Quickutz Konnections

Fourteen of our Scrapn' Memories customers just completed a 3-class series we offered called Q U I C K U T Z K O N N E C T I O N! We are happy to continue offering this class on a monthly basis and we hope that you will join us.

The May installment of Quickutz Konnection will be featuring the many things you can do with the Quickutz Goosebumpz embossing folders, as well as the apple die and the Revolution Sun. Each participant will receive a Goosebumpz embossing folder along with the class kit. You may sign up for this class until Saturday May 3. (We ask for reservations so we can order what we need and pack the kits in advance.)

New Store Hours

This is very hard blog to write, however an email has already gone out.

I have had to change the store hours to Thursday - Sunday. As hard as it is to admit there is just not enough business to open 6 days a week. I have prayed long and hard on what I need to do.
As you know there are store closing right and left and I am fighting every way I can to stay in business. With all the choices you have to shop on line and gas prices going out the roof I know how hard it is. However truth is..I have to have shoppers to stay in business.

Thank you to those of you who do business with us, and I pray you continue to shop at Scrap'n Memories. Nothing else has changed, we will continue 2 Crops a month and classes.

If you have any questions please feel free to stop by.

This will take effect the week of May 5th.

Don't forget National Scrapbook Day is Saturday May 3rd. We will have lots going on in the store and hope you can stop by!

There are quite a few classes being offered at Scrap'n Memories these days with topics ranging from card-making to sewing to...preserving your cruise vacation memories. Above is a glimpse of part of what we will be doing in the "Ship to Shore" class on 4.26. If you have been on a cruise, or if you are planning on going on a cruise, join us for Ship to Shore--the first in a series of classes on cruise memories. In the class, we'll create a 2-page spread that features Scenic Route Papers and Quickutz too, and there will be plenty of additional ideas offered for scrapbooking your fabulous cruise memories.

It's late Saturday night and I'm having a card-making fit with the new glittered cupcake paper that arrived at the store this week. It's part of the Stemma line from Masterpiece Studios. Check it out! A whole sheet of glittered cupcakes just waiting to be enjoyed. All that yumminess with ZERO calories!

This is a quick little card project that used just one of the cupcakes...at this rate I'll get about 30 cards out of one sheet. How's that for economical! Next time you are in the store...don't miss all the new papers from Masterpiece Studios. :)

Well we receive a beautiful snow, however it did not last long enough!
Hopefully you received my email in time to take a picture of yourself in the snow. You must bring the current picture into the store March 11-15,2008 for a $5 coupon to spend that day on your purchase of $25 or more.

Paint Techniques Class

Hey all! Jessica Turner here. Tammy posted a couple project pics in the below post, but I thought I would post a few more so you can get a good look at what we will be creating in my Paint Techniques class, which is only $18 (not $25)!

We will do three projects - the Memories butterfly layout, the Prima Paintables layout and the little frame book that Tammy has in the below post.

For this 2.5 hour class, please bring the following supplies:
*One vertical 4x6 picture
*One picture cropped to 4x4
*One 8x10 picture than can be cut into a large circle (we will cut this in class)
*Pop dots
*glue dots
*Copper and brown inks
*Scissors
*Glue stick
*Wet adhesive
*ribbon adhesive
*Crop-a-dile (if you have one)
*paper trimmer
*black marker
*average paint brush (if you have one)

I really hope you can come to this class. It is perfect for those Easter pictures you will take on the 23rd, or any other family or special occasion pics. No experience with paint is necessary! This is the perfect class to try something that may be new to you. We will be using a variety of paints (acrylic, Tim Holtz crackle paint, watercolors) to create beautiful layouts and projects. We also will be using glitter mist on the butterflies. Hope to see you there.

Are you curious about Quickutz? Have you already enjoyed these oh-so-easy to use tools? Are you already hooked on QK? If so, then please plan to join us for the introductory class and informational meeting of Scrap'n Memories exclusive new Quickutz Club - Quickutz Konnections!

During the first class, we will complete the 2 layouts shown here, (be sure to click on each image to view a larger image.) which feature the QK Revolution dies and alphas, as well as the smaller Squeeze dies. The class will be held on Saturday, Jan 26 and will begin at 2 PM. The cost is $20 for this class and there is no obligation to join however, reservations are required, so we can be prepared for you.)

Please note: You do not have to own a Squeeze or a Revolution to join the Quickutz Konnection. We will have tools on hand for you to use during the classes and some of the cutting will be done before classes (for the sake of time).

During the intro class, we will introduce you to all the plans we have for the Quickutz Konnections club and we will tell you all about the perks you can receive by becoming a member.

Groups of Women

We all have a story to tell. Some of us are too young to be married, others have not found the right person, some of us have husbands and or children and others have the empty nest.
One way to by which you can choose to leave your legacy is through the hobby of scrapbooking. Some spend hours on one page and other choose not to do any embellishments, preferring to focus on journaling the story behind the pictures. No matter what your approach is we have room for each of you and offer great fellowship.
Whether you call your hobby scrapbooking, faithbooking or just getting your pictures in an album Scrap'n Memories has a place for you.
If you have several women you would like to come scrapbook with you we have the room.
No one has to worry about cleaning house etc...My store is your home away from home.
Set up a time monthly with your girlfriends, spending time laughing and getting to know each other again. What a great way to spend a few hours scrapbooking. Lets put the fun back into it.
Women find themselves giving too much of ourselves to family, church and work. We do not take enough time to focus on us, keeping or making new friends. One thing I have learned this past year is how much friends mean to me. I left a group of wonderful friends at Lifeway that I love dearly. We try to keep in touch by having lunch once a month. I cherish these times. I have also made some wonderful new friends through the store. Going through the tough times you find out how much your friends mean to you. Hi all - this is Jessica Turner. I am so excited to share my latest class with you. It is a 4x8 mini album perfect for your sweetheart for Valentines. The class will be held at 1 pm on February 3. The class fee is $20. Below is the class description and the materials you need to bring with you, as well as pictures of the album. I hope to see you there!

Class Description
Your loved one will flip for this adorable 4x8 7 Gypsies mini album. Using the latest Cosmo Cricket Valentines line, thickers and lots of primas, this sweet album is the perfect way to tell your special someone how much they mean to you. It would also work great for pictures of your kids, grandkids, etc. We will do several fun techniques including using mod podge, distressing (ink and sanding) and a little sewing - no experience necessary!! You will leave this class with a finished album - sign up today!

Materials Needed
* Four-six horizontal 4x6 photos (we may crop down to 4x4)
* Several different adhesives (you will need all of these!!) - a wet glue - with a precise tip, a strong glue stick for chipboard (ie: UHU or Pioneer), ribbon adhesive tape, glue dots and pop dots. These will NOT be provided.
* Sandpaper or file (a coarse nail file works great!)
* Scissors (small with a sharp tip)
* Gold, copper, brown, black or red/warm red color box ink for distressing (I used copper on my album)
* Paper trimmer
* Crop-a-dile (a regular hole punch will not work - we will have several on hand if you don't have this tool)
* Corner rounder (optional)

In this class you will create a mini album that will carry you through various areas of your faith. You will choose these areas based upon what is most important to you (i.e., Thank You, Fruit of the Spirit, Redeemed, etc.). The class will take you through creating beautiful pages to highlight your journaling and whatever photos you have that you would like to use to support that page's theme.

Faithbooking is ever-increasing in it's popularity and a wonderful way to document what really is the most important area of your life. As I was creating my own faithbook I discovered that I was developing more gratitude as well as documenting something that future generations may have never known otherwise.

Then at 2 PM Join Sarah as we have some fun with QuicKutz! We are starting a monthly QuicKutz Club join us for more information on what you will be creating, cost etc.

Wed., 30th..Cards with MaryAnne..3 PM & 6:30 PM...Join MaryAnne as she show you how to create some awesome Valentine cards! Cost $20

I would like to wish each of you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!

Sorry it has been a few days, however Nadene, Christi and I left for Chicago Thursday evening and returned LATE last night (Saturday). Our plane was delayed in Chicago, so it was after 10 when the plane came very wobbly into Nashville. I think this was the first time I have every gotten air sick! However we made it safely to the ground. We took out time to pick up our luggage as you all know it is a slow process. We found our section and Christi's luggage came quickly. Mine and Nadene's took about 45 min. to find! To make a long story short we finally arrived at our car around 11:30. It took almost as long to do all of this as it did to fly from Chicago to Nashville! We had a wonderful time, eating and shopping. The weather was nice which helped since we walked Michigan Ave. for 2 days.
This is my excuse for not sending the last of our 12 days of Christmas until this morning. I thought I would be home in plenty of time.

Take time this Christmas

We all play so many roles in out life and we rush from one place to another. I hope this year you will be able to take some time for yourself so that you will have the energy to do everything that you need to do this season.
If you can go have a massage, manicure or pedicure, if not take a nice quite (Dana lock the door!) bubble bath and light the candles, play some soft music (I might just go do this now!) and just relax.
It is hard to believe that this will be our last Christmas just the four of us. We dream about our children growing up and finding the partner God has chosen for them and starting their own family. For me it has come quicker than I ever dreamed. So many times I would love to go back to the age of 5,(skip the teen years) and then I look at both of them and I love the young women they have become. I am looking forward to watching them start their family.
I am grateful to have place where I can create these memories and to help you with yours. This has been dream come true! I am so blessed to have made so many new friends.
This holiday season consider giving a gift that will be unique, like no other..record a loved ones voice,have them tell their story and record by voice or in writing in a hand made journal or both. Capture the whisper from grandpa and grandma, dad, mother, best friend or yourself.

We had 20 ladies in two classes today creating an awesome canvas album. Courtney from Dream Street papers taught us a few new techniques. One that I loved was using paper streamers to make a flower. Stop by the store and take a look at mine!

Hope you all have a great day even in this bad weather. I have been waiting for some products before I blogged however they did not come. Arriving today was more Scenic Route..the cute Christmas Tree paper was one of them.
I found a wonderful new dot adhesive that I love. You must try it next time you need new adhesive.
The BoBunny word books are still on back order (not much I can do about this)with BoBunny and Notions. I ordered from two companies hoping one of them would arrive this week. We have some great ideas to show off to you when you come in.
Figgy Pudding is still on back order and next week I should receive the new SEI Christmas line. It is awesome!
Have you seen the voice recording boxes? I have these on the way and they will go fast. They will make great ornaments or embellishment for your layouts. If you have an ageing parent or grandparent what a neat why to remember them. Have the record a message and then use it as an ornament or on a layout. I am so excited about these coming in. When they arrive we will have a demo day!

I have sad news (for me anyway) QuicKutz has partnered with Hobby Lobby. I will not be stocking these in the store any more. I will be more than happy to order you any dies that you would like which saves you shipping. At this time I am not sure what kind of discounts that HL will be offering on QuicKutz, however I am sure it is more than I can offer for me to stay in business.

I am in the Christmas mood as Christi, Shannon, Tina (sister) and Nadene explored every inch of Christmas Village yesterday. We had so much fun shopping and just being together. I think we tried every chocolate booth we saw! We do not get to do this often so I think you for allowing me to shut the store down early yesterday. The store is decorated for Christmas which has helped me get in the mood.

Today's challenge is to isolate an element in a piece of patterned paper, cut it out, and use it on a layout (or card). In the sample, you can see the leaf cut from a lovely piece of Scenic Route paper.

Patterned paper is super usable, especially when you see it as not only a full sheet, but also as individual elements, and all their possibilities.

Have you seen this sheet of * I LOVE BUGS* cardstock stickers by Karen Foster Design at the store?

Well, even if bugs aren't your thing, don't overlook these stickers any longer! A few weeks ago my four year old was in Scrap'n Memories with me and he latched on to these stickers. (He has a growing collection of stickers.) I let him get them and after we got them home and I really took a look at them, I realized I was going to need my own sheet...they are too cute. :)

Hope you all had a great day! We have a wonderful day at the store.

Pam Byrd helped several ladies create some great Fall and Halloween pages using lots of Heidi Grace papers. Now all they need to do is take some great pictures.
Dana Beckman showed several of us ladies how to use alcohol inks! This was great! We had so much fun learning all the products you can use them on. We used silk leaves, some kind of silver tape from Home Depot, plastic, metal and acrylics! If you have never used these products before stop by the store and I will show you how. It is messy but oh so much fun!

I like to listen to a church in Tx sermons, however today I ran across the Women's Magazine they have. It really hit home with me and I would like to share.

We as women are always so busy trying to do it all from taking care of our children, husbands jobs and what ever else comes our way that we do not take the time to ask God for the little things. We think he can only help us with the big things.

In the article it talks about a women who her and her husband had just finished a financial course and had made a commitment to not spending any extra money if possible. Her son reminded her that morning that he had to have a plant for school. Pay day was still a few days away so she was trying to wait as long as she could to purchase the flower.
This day was also an appreciation day for the Volunteers at the school. As she dropped off her son, he said mom do not forget my flower. She told him she would go after her meeting and asked him what color of flower he wanted. He told her red and also asked if she could get him a packet of sunflower seeds as it was his teacher favorite flower.
She went into the cafeteria, where they decorated it nicely for them and the food was wonderfully displayed.
She said she was asking God to help her find a table to sit and she saw a young women who husband was a pastor at a small church and they just moved into a new building. She sat down and tried to talk with her but the lady did not seem to want to talk.

As the meeting was ending they started giving away door prizes and one lady at the table won some bath items and this lady won a T-Shirt that said "Somebody stop me before I volunteer". The lady with the bath items went on and on about not needing these so I asked her if she would like to trade and she did. Other ladies at the table won items too. One of these was a plant and you guessed it, it was a red flower. She went on about how it would be dead in a week, so I asked her to trade and she was more than willing.
As we were leaving they said to please take a packet of seeds in the displays..I am sure you have guessed it was the sunflower seeds. She could not believe what God had done for her that morning.
Remember she asked God to sit her by someone that she might encourage and since the lady did not seem to want to talk she figured she just missed what God meant.
She went home and told her husband about the flower and seeds and after finishing the story she heard God say "You still don't get it". She asked him what he meant and he said.."Remember what you asked me before you sat down? You wanted to know what table to sit at. You choose the right table, but not for the reason you think. I didn't want you to visit with the pastor's wife; I wanted you to sit there so I could bless you!"
We think most of the time that God has time for our BIG issues, however he wants to help us with it all our issues big or small. How many times have I missed the picture because I did not think he would help with the small task I had that day.
Hopefully we can all take something from this story (me included) and invite him to be a part of our daily small decisions.

Thank you to those who came yesterday, Saturday for our 1st Anniversary. We had a wonderful time. We had 6 of our Design team ladies here with fun Make-N-Takes and showing off their wonderful classes to come. Thank you , Thank you to our Design team they out did themselves!

Of course my beautiful daughters Christi and Shannon were here to help out. For those of you who do not know Shannon will be married March 22,08 and Christi Sept. 20, 08. So please keep us in your prayers. I thought this past year was eventful and fast..2008 will be too!

Ok ladies I am checking into carrying this line of purses!!! HAHA Notice each one has the same brand and color just a different style! I bet I saw this purse today at church 10 times.

I have the best customers in the world! I look forward to many more Anniversary's!

Thanksgiving Album Class Preview

I'm excited to share my November class - a beautiful Thanksgiving album featuring papers by Cosmo Cricketand Deja Vu's Sharon Ann Timeless Collection, along with our newest Hambly Screen Prints transparencies. We know some of you ladies are like, what do I do with this?! After taking this class, I guarantee you will be wanting to add Hambly to all of your layouts.

The class is on Sunday, November 4 at 2:00. It will last about 2 hours and you will leave with a completed album ready to just add photos for Thanksgiving! Class cost is $25 and includes a complete kit to make the album. The album design can easily be modified slightly to work for any fall photos.

I have a challenge for you if you dare. Make a 12X12 page about yourself and bring into the store for a great coupon to use that day! Remember we always scrapbook others however your family needs layouts about you. Hope to see a lot of these come into the store.

UPS and Fedx did not stop by the store today, however I know that Maya Road, C-Thru Ruler, Daisy D Christmas is on the way.

I have several Basic Grey Date book kits available as long as supplies last. Cost $25 Basic Grey made these kits to support Breast Cancer. We had one class and it was so much fun!

Pet Lovers we have the cutest new paper in from SEI in Kitty Place and Park Buddies

Is it ever so Hot!

New in this week....

Cosmo Cricket- Gretel, Be Good, Lil boy and girl 8x8 paper kits that go along with the new Biography 101 Album on one side and a shadow box on the other. This is an awesome product!

I found this line at CHA and really liked the products

Dream Street papers and chipboard Albums. They have the new 6x12 everyone is going crazy over.

Remember tonight Friday 10th is crop night so the store is open for shopping pleasure until 10 PM. Maybe it will be cooler!! Of course it is always cool inside our store.
